CHF Invests in Local Education

CHF also supported a number of trainings and lectures during the summer camps that focused on enhancing youth talent. One of the main impacts of the summer camps was their ability to raise awareness amongst youth on issues pertaining to good citizenship, children’s rights, and social peace.

Spreading Awareness on the Importance of a Green Environment

Energy efficiency is not just a hot topic, it is also important for reducing operating costs in resource strapped communities and promoting long-term sustainability. CHF has built a number of child and youth facilities, which include green elements such as the Bait Al Tifel Youth Club in Hebron and the Safeer Children’s Center in Nablus. These facilities provide children and youth with a safe place to play and gather, and include learning tools related to the environment. Over the next few years, CHF will continue working with elementary and secondary school students to familiarize them with the concepts of green building and environmental stewardship as part of the green building component under the USAID funded Local Government and Infrastructure Program (LGI), in which a series of events at schools and youth clubs will focus on activities that will help to spread the idea of preserving the environment amongst youth and children.

Under this project, EJP constructed four rooms (one used by administration and teaching staff and the other three as classrooms), retaining walls, a sanitary unit, a canteen and a staircase as well as asphalting the external playing yard. In addition, EJP piloted the usage of a grey water treatment system at the school, implemented by Green Palestine.

The Future

CHF will continue to support and engage with local and national partners in constructing much needed school and youth infrastructure in the most vulnerable communities across Palestine and at the same time undertake projects like the youth councils, training and summer camps to engage with the future leaders of Palestine.
