CHF Invests in Local Education
Through an on-the-ground presence spanning many years, CHF has established productive relationships and partnerships with many local stakeholders. We work closely with community organizations and government actors to identify and prioritize infrastructure development goals as a means by which to engage the local population and ensure that our projects properly address the needs of targeted communities.
CHF has also focused our work on improving the educational conditions of students with physical disabilities. All of the schools that CHF constructs or rehabilitates have ramps and bathrooms constructed to ensure access is made easier for students with disabilities. Some of our projects also target student populations with special needs. For example, a new school was constructed replacing the Al-Amal school for physically and mentally challenged students, which was established in 1972. The new school includes 10 classrooms and workshops in addition to a kitchen and a yard. This dignified educational space provides a safe area for the children to undertake various extracurricular activities.
With the understanding that educational facilities ought not to stop at the classroom, CHF also works to construct and rehabilitate youth centers – providing safe and attractive spaces for positive extracurricular activities and learning opportunities. In carrying out all construction projects, CHF makes every effort to take advantage of the available and eager local workforce – thus creating jobs and offering a boost to key economic sectors. Many of the workers on our project are youth between the ages of 18-25, often securing their first full time employment opportunity with a CHF project.
