Third LDR Roundtable Youth in Local Government- Realities and Prospects

Around 80 participants from the local government sector, Youth Shadow Local Councils (YSLCs), civil society, and the donor community gathered on 26-27 July 2011 at the 'Third Youth in Local Government Roundtable’ event to explore the reality of youth participation at the local government level, in community development and prospects for enhancing their level of proactive engagement in the future. The Youth Roundtable Series is implemented under the Local Democratic Reform Program (LDR) Program with funds from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
The aim of the youth roundtable event was to gather the cross-sector stakeholders to discuss the opportunities and challenges in four thematic areas: youth representation; youth participation; youth as catalysts for positive change; and YSLCs in the local government sector. The roundtable participants put forth recommendations that identified the roles and responsibilities of the key stakeholders on the main themes of the roundtable.
